About Us

What Is Physical Therapy?

Sports Center is a physical therapy practice. Physical therapy is a health care profession that diagnoses and treats people who have difficulty moving and performing functional activities as the result of health-related problems and is delivered by Physical Therapists. Physical Therapists in Texas are licensed by the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners.

Why The Name Sports Center?

You might think that with a name like Sports Center, we would only see serious, competitive "athletes." While we do see people who are competitive cyclists, swimmers, tennis players, golfers, football players, soccer players, baseball players, etc., many of our clients come to us because they hurt when they exercise or because they had to quit exercising completely. They know they need to exercise to stay healthy but cannot because the exercise regimen causes pain, stiffness, swelling, or soreness.

The intention of sports, dating back to the early Greeks, was to participate in an activity for the sake of the activity itself, to the best of your ability. Running, for example, was not a means of transportation or to get someplace, but a time to just run the best you can.

Sports served as a vehicle for not only developing a healthy body but also a healthy mind: learning how to handle success and failure, how to set goals, how to focus. Sports made you better.

We use a phrase under our name: “Where the Best Get Better.” It means something special. To get better means, “to advance to a more desirable, valuable, or excellent state” and the only way you can get better is by being tested. What do you get better at? You want to feel better, to not hurt, but to reach that goal you must get better in certain areas of your life in addition to improving your physical abilities. Injuries, diseases, and illnesses are invitations to a healthier life disguised as problems. Maybe you need to improve your patience, or courage, or perhaps your resilience. You must be disciplined, responsible and respectful. And, as you strengthen these values, your ability to overcome a physical challenge improves greatly. You will never be the same.

Who We Help

We help people, who hurt when they exercise or cannot exercise due to an injury or surgery and return them to an active lifestyle. We deal only with orthopedic and sports injuries in people age ten and over. Orthopedics is defined as the branch of medicine that deals with the prevention or correction of injuries or disorders of the skeletal system and associated muscles, joints, and ligaments.

Our Rationale

Several scientific studies have shown that one of the main reasons people do not exercise is because the exercise routine hurts. This leads to a sedentary lifestyle, a gradual acceleration of the aging process and a decline in overall quality of life. Sports Centers' fundamental concept is simple: if you cannot exercise, you cannot stay healthy. If you cannot stay healthy, you age faster.

Our Method

We combine education and instruction with scientifically based exercise in a fun, uplifting environment to heal injured tissues, increase strength, motion, flexibility, balance, and coordination. We refer to this method as The Sports Center Training System.

Your rebuilding program is designed by a specific member of our clinical team thoroughly trained in the Sports Center Training SystemSM and as a Sports Center client, you also have access to the minds and experience of our entire team. In other words, you're covered. To find out how to become a Sports Center client, call us at (512) 206-0433.

Client Comments

“My experience here exceeded my expectations.  I never thought that I would feel this good this soon.  The staff were all fantastic, their instructions were clear, their expectations reasonable and they did a great job explaining the purpose of each exercise. If anyone I knew needed physical therapy I would definitely recommend Sports Center.  I would tell them to trust the staff and do everything that they recommend and that if they do they will be back to normal before they know it.”
Michael Moore

"They care about helping people to heal, they all have a positive attitude and make clients feel comfortable. Most importantly, they have the knowledge, experience and skills to DO what they say they do: help people get better. Thanks for all of your support and encouragement.”
Leslie Cromwell
(Yoga Instructor)

“To me it meant ‘hope’. After my surgery I thought I was never going to return to my normal exercise routine. The atrophy in my leg was down right ‘scary’ for me. I felt improvement every week. The best part is the individual attention and knowing that everyone were a united front. Sports Center is in a league of its own. There is physical therapy and there is Sports Center. I would recommend Sports Center to everyone who wants quality results."
